Winter Fun Competition No. 3Oh No! Not again surely?
Winter Fun Competition No. 3 held on Sunday, 20th March was won by the ‘4 Amigos’ against a star-studded field. This is their 4th win in 5 outings.
A straight run of 12 birdies from their start on the 9th hole helped set the scene for a 0.2 stroke winning margin for the ‘4 Amigos’ (Neil Adams, Roger Antolik, Scott Jeffrey and Charlie Dunn) to take their 4th win in 5 starts over the winter series of fun competitions. This week’s Texas Scramble format well suited the amigos, who unmasked some excellent team play for the event; 18 birdies was their target; that will have to wait till next year. Roll-on the summer and back to individual and pairs golf cry the masses.
Weather conditions were benign, there was little wind and the greens were receptive to attacking play and played truer than perhaps expected having been hollow-tined in the week. It was an extremely close fought competition and scoring was tight, with just 0.7 of a shot separating the first four teams. The full scoring list is shown below.
