Wiltshire Golf Captains (WGC) 2026 Spring Meeting
Wiltshire Golf Captains is a society formed in 1961 consisting of current and past Captains of Wiltshire based golf clubs including West Wilts. It provides an opportunity for its members to participate in individual, team, and pairs competitions plus friendly matches against other counties.
A fantastic turnout of sixty-eight current and present club Captains together with ten County guests from Berkshire, Oxford, Dorset, Somerset and South Wales met at Salisbury and South Wilts Golf Club for the Annual Spring Meeting which is an individual Stableford Competition. Our West Wilts players taking part were the Captain, Tony Bumstead, our President, Stuart Newton and past captains Steve Few. Colin Fourmy, Guy Bettesworth, Dave Hiscock, Ernie Hiscock and myself. The course was in excellent condition and the weather perfect.
The winner of the Bob Stacey Memorial Trophy with an impressive 41 points was our President Stuart Newton who was presented with the Trophy, together with a dozen quality golf balls by the 2026 WGC Captain Tony Boulton.
The WGC Captain then presented 9 new Club Captains with their WGC Ties including our Captain who looked very happy to receive it.
This was my first meeting as WGC Hon Meetings Secretary and many thanks to our West Wilts players who took part and a special mention to Geoff Titt, (past West Wilts and WGC President and Captain) who helped me with distributing the cards and marking them afterwards.
