Wiltshire Captains’ Spring Meeting
The Wiltshire Captains held their Spring Meeting at West Wilts Golf Club on Thursday 23 April on a gloriously warm, windless and sunny day. The course was in exceptional condition, and the standard of the greens was particularly mentioned by a number of players as being the best they had played on in the county this year.
The current Captain of the Wiltshire Captains is our own Bill Hartley (WWGC Captain 2005), so it was most appropriate that we hosted this prestigious event this year. A total of 85 past and present Wiltshire Captains and invited guests enjoyed a competitive day’s golf followed by an excellent dinner laid on by Peter and Sandra’s team.
The Bob Stacey Memorial Trophy was won by Andy Cook from The Wiltshire Golf Club with 41 points. Second place (on count back) went to our own Club Captain, Guy Bettesworth with 40 points.
A commendable £443.40p was raised for Wiltshire Air Ambulance by all those taking part in the day. Finally the Wiltshire Captains presented a cheque to West Wilts Golf Club for £500 to thank us for hosting the event.
