Wagglers Trophy Day

Wagglers Trophy Day on Saturday 27th September brought a largely successful Wagglers season to a close.
A season where we played 16 fixtures up from the 14 of last season having added Erlestoke sands home and away,
Ogbourne Down deciding to play only once this season which was offset by returning to home and away against Upavon
Of those 16 games the Wagglers came out on top in 11, halving 1 and losing 4 a great effort by the 48 different club members who participated.
Again we were unsuccessful in the annual Ryder cup weekend against Chippenham played at Puckrup Hall but hopeful that our new Captain Jamie Darvill and new Vice Captain Brian Campbell can lead us to victory come April at Wychwood and Cotswold Hotel.
Back to Trophy Day enjoyed by 43 players doing battle for the Wagglers Shield (Medal), Salver (Stableford) coupled with the traditional Team competition.
Shield winner: Dave Dance(net 64), 2nd Colin Brown(68), 3rd Dieter Wakeling(69)
Salver winner: Adam Griggs(40pts), 2nd Shem Newman(38), 3rd Richard Hartley(36)
Best Gross: Wayne Black(71)

Congratulations to all the above.
The competition was followed by the AGM, Presentation and 3 course dinner with a traditional late finish.
I would like to finish by thanking all those members for their support this season and acknowledge the efforts of the green staff for the fantastic condition of the course whatever mother nature throws at it, also thank Ruth and her team for their support and hard work not only for Trophy Day but throughout the year and Lawrence for ensuring our fixtures are booked and set in the diary.
