Sanders, Saunders and Challenge Bowl
On the last day of July West Wilts members welcomed clear blue sky, a faint breeze and lightning fast greens. It made for a great morning of golf with prizes on offer in three separate divisions.
First to collect their prizes from the Club Captain, Walter Witts were the players competing for the Sanders Plate awarded to players with handicaps from 18 to 28. In second place with a score of 68 was Pete Cunningham. In first place with 67 was Max Lines: a very popular winner who now regrets not entering the club championship last weekend.
The Saunders Bowl, for players with handicaps between 11 to 18 was won by Dirk Pinnell with a great score of 65. In fourth place 66 after allowing for countback was Alan Self, 3rd was awarded to Richard Denton and Runner up, also with 66 was Michael Ship,
The Challenge Bowl is awarded to low handicappers. In third place with 68 was Tim Cambourne who was pipped on countback with the same score for second place by Steve Rowe. The winner of the bowl with a score of 66 was Wayne Hemmins. Wayne thanked the Captain, steward and green staff and commended the condition of the course.
