Ladies Scratch Team

On Friday 5th June, our Ladies Scratch Team played their third league match of the season against Marlborough B Team. Following our victory over Marlborough’s First Team in the Scratch Knockout a couple of weeks earlier, the team went into the match full of confidence and determined to continue their positive run of form.
Despite struggling to field a full team and having to make some last-minute changes to the squad, the ladies remained focused. West Wilts made a strong start, winning the opening matches to establish a 2–0 lead. Marlborough responded well, raising their game and levelling the score at 2–2.
With everything resting on the third match still out on the course, the pressure was on. We watched the players make their way down the 18th, unsure of the overall score and knowing the result could go either way. In the end, a par on the final hole was enough to secure the decisive point and give West Wilts a hard-fought 3–2 victory.
Representing West Wilts on the day were Lizzy Bryant, Maxine Portnell, Aurora Edwards, Dawn Hicketts and Sally Webb.
The team’s next league fixture is at home to Chippenham on 19th June.
