HOARE SALVER/DART CUP/DART PLATE
Club Champion Dave Wilkin sets out his stall in the first trophy competition of 2017.
A field of 53 players opened up the competitive season competing for 3 trophies; the Hoare Salver (upto 10), the Dart Cup (11-18) and the Dart Plate (19-28). The format was 18-holes of medal with the lowest gross being 72 and the highest 116.
Dave Wilkin produced the lowest gross score of the day in difficult windy conditions on Sunday to win the first trophy of the year, the Hoare Salver. In the two higher handicap divisions Mike Jones (net 68) and Tom Smith (net 64) took the Dart Cup (11-18) and Dart Salver (19-28) respectively.
Strong southerly winds ensured scoring would be difficult with the early starters benefitting slightly as the wind strengthened through the morning. All players stayed dry and the greens remain a challenge as they continue to recover from the overwinter blight.
