GolfMates RoadTrip @ WWGC - 20th August 2019
Captain’s report of the Vlogger visit:
I arrived at the clubhouse to see a very large motor home parked in the middle of the car-park this could only mean one thing the YouTube golf Vlogger, Liam Harrison, and his best pal Ste were on time and getting ready to play 9 holes as arranged by club member Jamie Hibbs as part of Golf Vlogs UK road trip around the UK.
I am not a much of a YouTube’r so was a little unsure of how the day was going to pan out, fortunately I went into the Pro- Shop and met “Jamie” from Chippenham who is a “Golf mate”.
You subscribe to Golf Vlogs UK (which is free) and then apply to play golf with Liam and Ste who then video your golf. This is then edited and published on their YouTube channel for all to see both - good shots and bad shots!!!
On the day we had 4 golf mates turn up to play - Jamie, Paul, Toby and John. I was also invited to join in so hurriedly grabbed my clubs and made for the 1st tee along with 2 club members President Ivor Groskop and Tony Middlehurst who both decided to walk the course with the Vloggers for the first 5 holes. Liam took the hand-held camera and played with golf mates Toby and John and then, from hole 6, Ste took over filming golf mates Jamie, Paul and me. This also gave club member Tony Middlehurst an opportunity to try out his camera skills filming a number of Ste’s shots - we will have to wait and see if these make the final edit.
I have to say it was a great fun and hopefully everyone enjoyed the experience. I hope it didn’t interfere too much with any of the regular golf being played.
Golf Vlogs UK have over 43,000 subscribers and no doubt many more watch the videos.
Hopefully this will give our club fantastic exposure and encourage more people to think about taking up the game we love so much.
