Gents Invitational Day – Saturday 27 June – Report
The Gents Invitational Day held on Saturday saw 45 pairs play a 4-ball better ball competition keenly played in excellent conditions with a mild SW wind and high summery temperatures.
A bang start at 2.30pm after lunch had members and their guests away simultaneously and reduced waiting time at the end for results and the presentations. Prizes for both hosts and guests for nearest the pin, nearest the pin in 2 and longest drives gave everyone the chance even if their golf perhaps wasn’t up to the normal high standard.
Four teams tied for first place on 46 points with the result determined on countback, the 5th team coming in with 45 points.

1st – 46pts, Vic Simpson & Steve McCaw (Frome GC)
2nd – 46pts, Cliff Weekes & Gregg Wood (Frome GC)
3rd – 46pts, Mike Beavan & Simon Hibbard (Cumberwell GC)
4th – 46pts, Dharma Gurung & H Gurung (Royal Nepal Golf Club)
5th – 45pts, Ben Shergold & A Charlick (Newbury & Crookham GC)
Congratulations to everyone who took prizes and especially to Vic Simpson on his first win since joining the club 6 weeks ago, having joined us from Frome GC. 3 of the 4 players in the first two teams are from Frome GC – so maybe something to watch for over the next few months?
