First Team Match Report – Ogbourne (Home)

The First Team welcomed Ogbourne to West Wilts for their third Wiltshire League match of the season.
The weather made for difficult playing conditions from the very first tee shot, with rain and strong winds throughout the day. Some late changes to the team also resulted in alterations to both the playing order and pairings, but everyone involved adapted well and contributed to a strong team performance.
Dave Wilkin and Ed Southy were first out and set the tone for the day, securing an impressive 4 up victory to put the first point on the board for West Wilts. Wayne Hemmens and Wayne Black followed this up with a hard-fought 1 up win, before James Vincent and Dot Witcombe made it three wins from three with a 2 up victory.
Barnaby Craven Smith made his First Team debut alongside Nick Whiting. Although the result did not go their way on this occasion, some excellent golf was reported.
The overall result was West Wilts 5–1 Ogbourne, making it back-to-back league wins for the First Team.
The First Team's next league match is away to Broome Manor on Saturday 5th July.
