Club retain trophy against Warminster Garrison
The Club have won their annual match against the Warminster Garrison team in another close fought match 3-2.
5 matches were played in the betterball format in excellent conditions in this annual match which is always keenly fought with both trophy and bragging rights up for grabs. Many of the Garrison team are Club members and as they play their home matches at West Wilts, there's not much home advantage for the club team.
With the team captains (Al Brown (WGCS) and Walter Witts(WWGC)) playing in the first flight and with the Garrison taking both the first two matches there was high expectation on Al's part that the trophy would be back in his hands before the 4th and 5th matches even got back in. Not to be though, with the final 3 matches going to the club the trophy remains in the clubhouse for another year.

The event was previously established as a match against a team formed from the military garrison in Warminster and the directors of the club, but this was changed with the establishment of a Garrison golf society and the club being unable to field a suitably 'senior management' team.
