Captain’s Day - 9th June 2024
Over 150 members descended on WWGC on the most glorious of mornings to play Captain’s Day 2024.
The honour of starting the proceedings was left to Brian Campbell, Colin Brown and first to tee off was Guy Bettesworth.
The morning competition was very competitive with only a handful of points separating the top ten in each division.
Congratulations to Richard Hartley and Daren Pickford for winning their respective divisions, with Rich coming out as the overall winner of the Captain’s Prize.
Apparently, Matt Gee and Darren Munro came within inches of pocketing the £10,000 for a hole in one on the 13th, better luck next time chaps!! Thank you to the six adjudicators, from our sections, Seniors, Ladies and Wagglers, who gave up their time, much appreciated.
The afternoon scramble saw a full complement of 96 members split into 24 teams competing for the prizes on offer. Well done Lewis Regler, Oliver Rush, Camron Rush, and Adam Gough for coming out on top by just one point.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved from the office and pro-shop to the green keepers, catering and bar staff, for making the day most special.
But most of all many thanks to you the members for all your kind words and support, a day to remember.
