6-Way Match – Sunday 2 April
Wagglers triumph in club’s annual 6-way match.
The annual 6-way match for the Andy Kane trophy is competed for by 6-player teams from the Seniors, Wagglers, Directors, Ladies, Juniors and 1st Team. The competition provides a unique opportunity for sections of the club to play together in groupings they do not usually associate with. The format this year was 4BBB with all scores to count.
Playing off the back tees on their own cards both Ladies and Men enjoyed a glorious sunny Sunday afternoon over the full length of the course with hardly any wind. Having won the event 9 times in 11 years the 1st Team were always odds-on favourites and being the most competitive and focussed team they had it all to lose.
Despite a stellar performance by Club Champion Dave Wilkin and 1st Team captain Kevin Lucas with 45pts the best of the day was produced by Jim Dufosee and Jim Glass who delivered an excellent 46pts for the Wagglers.
Regrettably the Juniors were unable to field a team this year and we are grateful to Al Brown for standing-in to mark the card for the 15th pair.
