2017 ProAm
Results, prizewinners and photographs from our 2017 ProAm sponsored by Webbs Motorhomes & Caravans held on Thursday 20 July are reported below.
Congratulations are due to the winning team of Mike Rice, Tom Martin and Kevin Lucas who were accompanied by pro Ross Langdon. The winning pro was Michael Watson from the Wessex Golf Centre with a 3-under par score of 66. 25 teams participated in the event, fewer than last year and hopefully just a blip in the popularity of this usually oversubscribed event. The date change to July after last year's event was probably the key factor affecting entries but was felt necessary due to the risk of the extensive badger damage of recent years in September. It is hoped that in future years the event will return to a slightly earlier date in September; watch out for the diary date and entry form later this year.
The prize table again ran to over £3,500 in value and there was a £20,000 Nissan car up for grabs for a hole-in-one on the 4th (sadly not won) which was underwritten by Platinum Nissan for the third year running. We were extremely fortunate to have Webbs Motorhomes & Caravans again as the main event sponsors and their support has been invaluable to make the event viable and so successful. Our other sponsors were the Northwood Rental Agency, Howdens, Davis & Latcham Estate Agents, Mirage Signs, Roundstone Vending and Dorset Energy Solutions, all of whom supported us in 2016 and have continued to support the event this year.
