2015 Captain's Charity Update
2015 Club Captain, Guy Bettesworth, presents his cheque to Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
On Sunday 15 May, following the ‘Jim Brindley’ prize-giving, Guy Bettesworth, West Wilts Golf Club Captain 2015, presented his chosen charity, Wiltshire Air Ambulance, with a cheque for £1,810.50p. The amount was raised throughout his year as Captain, with significant contributions coming from the Wiltshire Captain’s Spring Meeting (£443) and the incredible bungee jump by Sam Rowles in April (£805).
The remainder of the donations came from a steady flow of contributions into the Air Ambulance collecting tin and Captain’s Bunker bottle at the bar through 2015. On being handed the cheque, Rebecca de la Bedoyere, Senior Fundraising Manager at Wiltshire Air Ambulance, said “We are so grateful to Guy for choosing us as his charity during his year of Captaincy. We’d like to thank everyone at West Wilts Golf Club for their support, and especially Sam for raising £800 with her hair-raising bungee jump. As we receive no regular government funding, it is donations from the people and business communities of Wiltshire that keep us flying and saving lives. We need to raise £3.25 million a year, and this donation will help ensure we can be there for anyone who lives, works or travels in Wiltshire when they need us most.”
West Wilts Golf Club was delighted to have been able to make a contribution to such a worthy cause.
