Frank Lampard makes surprise appearance at the Remedy Oaks Masters - Rich Henry wins!
40 members from West Wilts made their annual pilgrimage to Remedy Oaks Golf Club to play their Remedy Oaks Masters, an 18-hole stableford played each April and superbly organised by Malc Shergold (with a little help from Ben).
Complete with duck sound effects on the 18th green the occasion turned into a take-off of the Phoenix Open, with a full gallery enjoying the sunshine on the patio overlooking the finish, as player after player took on a devilishly tight pin position next to the lake to seek that elusive nearest-the-pin-in-2 prize. The competition proved especially successful for Rich Henry who shot an impressive 40pts to take the honours from Malc himself who scored a very creditable 39pts.
Rich's score also provided the backbone for his team of Bob Burt, Martin Bradbury and Steve Clements which took the Bowmaker (best two scores on each hole) with an outstanding (almost unbelievable) 95pts.
LOFT Award winner Rupert Williams clearly had the upcoming handicap review in mind as he massaged his way to a notable 17pts; noted Roops, and probably worth a shot off in recognition of the effort it must have taken to not take advantage of those fantastic greens and silky smooth fairways! Nice pink towel by the way.
Remedy Oaks was in absolutely pristine condition and is well worth a visit if you can find a way to get an invite or entry. Even off the yellow tees it is a solid test for most West Wilts players, with most greens at least 4 times the size of ours and water coming into play on most holes - not by design mind you, it was just that some wanted to play it that way!
Overall, a brilliant day, well organised and excellently delivered - a big well done and thank-you to Team Shergold from us all that took part.
